It is an art in its own right, and an art that pleases. Children’s literature, an editorial genre that is not in crisis, is once again in the spotlight at the Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse de Montreuil. From November 28 to December 3, toddlers, children, teenagers and parents are invited to meet publishers, authors and illustrators. The theme of this 34th edition? “Our futures.”
Novels, newspapers, manga, digital books, comics… Children’s literature has a thousand and one facets, and this diversity is one of the riches of the Montreuil Salon. Big names in French and international publishing, associations, small publishing houses, press publishers: a total of 450 exhibitors are waiting for you behind their stands. All of them are committed to helping you discover their creations, past, present or future.
Here no rule, wander around in place according to your desires, fall in love with this pretty album, offer yourself a dedication, stop to see this sketch come to life under an illustrator’s pencil. For six days, 150 authors and illustrators come to meet their young readers and the adults who accompany them in their learning of words, verbs and poetry.
A literary festival of reference, the Montreuil Book and Press Fair is also a place for exhibitions, meetings, performances, workshops and professional debates. In connection with the theme “Our Futures”, a major exhibition explores the multiple ways in which children’s literature artists revisit the past, get involved in the major issues of today and help to imagine the future.
