It is a fact: the French like to read. To support them in this healthy occupation, the Ministry of Culture is organizing a Reading Night for the 3rd year. This Saturday, January 19, libraries and bookstores open their doors until late. On the program: activities, discoveries, exchanges, meetings… Who said that reading was a solitary activity?
The main objective of this major national event: to unite the French, young and old, around the pleasure of reading. But not only that. The meeting and exchange are at the heart of this Night of Reading through the many activities offered in and by libraries and bookstores. The festivities begin in the afternoon and continue in the evening.
Travelling or musical readings, escape games, pajama workshops, debates, exhibitions, meetings with authors, illustrators, storytellers and all kinds of recreational activities await the public. Or rather the public. Children, teenagers, adults, readers of novels, comics, manga, blogs, newspapers, all readers of any kind are invited to the celebration. It may be an opportunity to discover, through an animation, a new genre, an unpublished medium (digital book, audio book…), the classics of literature or new releases to come.
But the great challenge of this 3rd Reading Night is to attract to libraries and bookstores all those who do not usually frequent them.
Thousands of events are already planned throughout France and even beyond. Parisian libraries and bookshops will of course be on board. Around the Victoria Palace, in the 6th arrondissement, several of them will have the pleasure of welcoming you to discover their collections and share a friendly moment.
